Hello Everyone,
Some of you may already know, but Roscoe had some very serious surgery last Thursday.
What we originally thought was a cyst turned out to be a mast cell tumor with a tentacle that extended over 12 inches. The hope is that the surgeon was able to remove it all, but until we get the pathology results back, we won’t know what the next steps will be.
We have walked into the land of the unknown with him, and I cannot begin to explain how much this is tearing us all apart.
Roscoe is not just a name on a website.
Roscoe is not just a name on a logo.
Roscoe is not just a name on a treat bag.
Roscoe is a doggie. He’s My baby doggie in every sense of the word.
He cuddles with me like a giant teddy bear. He sucks on his blankie like it’s a pacifier. He runs around the house carrying his Squishmallows, taking his babies from room to room with him. And OMG, does he ever have a full bed of babies!
He has the softest heart. He’s just a toddler who loves his family. When I was sick, he stayed by my side for almost eight months. He barely wanted to go outside and left me and the bed only to eat.
So when I heard the words, “Your dog has cancer,” I was trying to hold myself together in front of him, but those words cut deep.
As his momma, it is my job to get him the best care possible. When I learned he needed surgery, that’s exactly what I did.
Rent, gas, bills, my medications, my own surgery, and my own doctor’s appointments all went out the window. Everything took a back seat to making sure Roscoe got the care he needed.
There was no choice, no hesitation, and no questioning.
Get him in. Get it done. Take care of my baby.
Some of you might think, “She has a business. She posts all the time. Someone must be placing orders, so she must be doing pretty well.”
I wish that were the case.
Winter is the hardest time of year for our little business because we don’t have weekly markets and events bringing in income. Without those markets, there just isn’t much coming in. I’m disabled and living on SSI, and the reality is that there isn’t a cushion to fall back on when something unexpected happens.
We’ve already had several veterinary appointments since May to monitor what we thought was a cyst, along with his arthritis. Those expenses added up before we even knew we were facing cancer surgery.
Roscoe’s surgery alone cost over $1,900, and after everything we’ve already paid, there is nothing left.
We have no idea what the next year will bring. There will be follow-up appointments, additional testing, and bloodwork. We got him this far, and now we have to keep going.
This isn’t a routine vaccination or yearly checkup that can be put off for a month or two. We’re talking about monitoring a cancer patient after tumor removal, and we need to be able to get him the care he may need.
I know times are tough for so many people. Gas, groceries, dog food, bills, and rent have all become so expensive. I know many of you are struggling just as much as I am, and I would never expect anyone to give what they simply don’t have.
I’m asking for a little help getting the word out.
If you’re able to share Roscoe’s GoFundMe link, you could help it reach someone who might be in a position to contribute. Even if you can’t donate, sharing it could make a difference for him.
I’m not asking one person to pay his bills. I’m asking for help reaching enough people that perhaps, together, we can make sure Roscoe gets the continued care he needs.
For those of you who have purchased our treats, visited our booth, supported Roscoe & Stella, or simply followed along with our journey, thank you. You are part of the community that has helped us keep going.
Right now, we’re taking things one day at a time, loving on our boy, keeping him comfortable, and waiting for answers.
If you can help us spread the word, we would be incredibly grateful.
