SUFP had a meeting with the DA and a DACC exec and brought fellow advocates with us. After the meeting we all went to Skid Row to see the progress Mayor Karen Bass has made to help make communities safer for humans and pets since she loves bragging about how effective she is. What I saw is the same if not worse than last year and summer – with extreme temperatures – is around the corner. Dogs are still unabashedly being confined in crates with no food, water, or shelter. And these crates were provided by a local “rescue” who lick the balls of bureaucrats for government funding, which makes them complicit and contributors to animal cruelty. While not all dogs on Skid Row are being confined, force bred, beaten, raped, starved, stabbed, neglected and sick, ONE dog enduring any of the aforementioned is a tragedy. The SUFP Foundation has offered resources and help and has funded tens of thousands saving pit bull type dogs who suffered unthinkable abuse on Skid Row and none of this is our job. We don’t get government funding, and our resources should not be used saving dogs who should have been protected by our government agencies. People making six figure salaries – tax payer dollars – yet purposely look away from the unethical and cruelty happening to many pit bull type dogs (and others) on Skid Row in plain sight is bullshit. The SUFP Foundation will not shut up about this or get tired. We have featured Skid Row in our documentary Saving Jones so the world can see how a first world country city filled with wealth and power treats their animals like a third world country with no resources. There are many fat pockets in the corrupt bureaucracy of Los Angeles animal welfare and the animals continue to pay the price for it. If explaining the horrors to people is too much then gift them Saving Jones so they can be educated. Send it to as many people as you can and the next time people vote, perhaps they will consider what they learned from the film and understand that what is happening to our dogs is a societal issue and those who condone animal abuse and cruelty do not care about humans either.
